How to choose the best service

Sayaka Kawase is a psychotherapist and personal coachヘ絶か who practices in Los Angeles, California. I have extensive clinical experience in diverse settings, such as schools, hospitals and mental health clinics. I started my private practice in 2004 and have two offices in the Los Angeles area. I work with children, adolescents and adults, and I provide individual, couple, family and group therapy. In the nine years of my career thus far, I have helped more than 150 people who suffer from some form of emotional distress and/ or personal issues.

My approach is based on the genuine belief that all individuals are capable of functioning effectively when they have a sense of integrity. Even though you try your best to stay happy and productive, life becomes hard at times because unexpected incidents can happen to everyone. You have the answer to your own happiness, but sometimes you may feel lost or simply you donft know how to find it. My job is to assist you to find the answer so that you feel happiness and satisfaction in your life. In our busy lives, we tend to take care of others first and put our needs last. Setting the time and space only for yourself and looking deeply into who you are can be a very healing and enlightening experience for you.

Though I am capable of providing high quality services for wide ranges of issues, my specialty is in cross-cultural issues. They include cross-cultural (inter-racial) couples and marriages, adjustment difficulties caused by language and cultural differences for people who live in other countries, and family issues caused by immigration.

I was born and raised in Japan and have lived in the U.S for more than 13 years. Therefore, I am bilingual and bicultural in English and Japanese and I would like to utilize these strengths to help people who are struggling with cross-cultural issues. Another strength of mine is the ability to create short-term therapy programs based on your needs and availability. You and I will develop treatment goals and plans together, so your opinion and preference are well respected.

In order to reach as many people as possible with different needs, I have also gained training in personal coaching. Personal coaching is the service for people who would like to improve themselves and achieve higher goals. Particularly, I have been helping other psychotherapists who wish to open their own practice and work independently through coaching sessions and seminars. People who plan to go through career transitions can benefit from my coaching service. Since 2004, I have been providing clinical supervision for other mental health professionals. I not only share my diverse clinical experience and knowledge with my supervisees, but also guide them to become professional and effective psychotherapists.

In addition to my private practice, I work as a consultant for several companies. I provide staff education, seminars and conflict resolutions to help each company run their business more smoothly and effectively.

I am also a contributor to two magazines, writing and giving advices on womens' issues and cross-cultural issues.
